CPD procures new equipment with MIP assistance

Malta Industrial Parks (MIP) has assisted the Civil Protection Department (CPD) to procure a small fleet comprising two water bowsers having a capacity of 42,000 litres each, complete with pumps and one mechanical horse to pull; and two truck bowsers having a capacity of 20,000 litres each.

The new equipment, which was completed with the CPD colours and logos, places the firefighters in a better position when they are called to extinguish large scale fires, including but not limited to those at industrial facilities.

Indeed the financial assistance provided by MIP is the result of a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) signed between the two parties in the aftermath of a fire at a recycling plant in Hal Far, which had taken very long to put out due to the lack of immediate availability of large quantities of water.

On its part, the CPD is assisting MIP through consultancies during the development of new facilities to minimize the risk of incidents happening, as well as by providing fire awareness and basic firefighting training to MIP employees and representatives of tenants at the industrial estates.
