EU Commissioner for Regional Policy Corina Crețu accompanied by EU Commissioner for the Environment, Maritime Affairs and Fisheries Karmenu Vella, Minister for European Affairs and Equality Helena Dalli, Minister for Gozo Dr Justyne Caruana, and Parliamentary Secretary for EU Funds and Social Dialogue Dr Aaron Farrugia visited the ongoing works at the sites known as ‘ex-MDP’ and ‘tal-Hofra’, Gozo in the presence of Mr Karl Azzopardi, CEO of Malta Industrial Parks which is entrusted with the project management of two SME parks which are being co-financed with EU funds.
Works, co-financed with EU funds, at the ‘ex MDP’ site and the area known as ‘Tal-Hofra’, both in Gozo, are progressing at a fairly good pace. The excavation works on site are now nearing completion and construction works have started on the complex foundation structures within the sites.
Infrastructural works, co-funded with EU funds, at Ta’ Qali Crafts Village are progressing steadily. A significant number of tenants are also, and in parallel, investing in their own units, demolishing and rebuilding their premises within the Village. An ‘incubation and creativity center for crafts’ and a ‘center for dying crafts’ will now also be housed within the village.
Malta Industrial Parks and Malta Enterprise signed a Memorandum of Understanding with the Malta Development Bank to co-operate and collaborate on the creation, operation and development of schemes, initiatives, structures and mechanisms for the benefit of existing and potential enterprises and for the benefit of economic growth of Malta. Such initiatives will seek to complement existing financial instruments which are available from the local retail banks whilst addressing any market failures.
